Seven North Carolina Residents Charged for Insurance Fraud

Officials report that seven suspects have been arrested in an alleged insurance fraud scheme that involved a faked auto accident on December 3rd in Guilford County, NC.  The suspects are accused of conspiring to defraud American Family Insurance Company out of over $7,000 by submitting fraudulent documentation in support of insurance claims from injuries sustained in the staged accident.

The suspects charged in this scheme are:

  • Shea Coates, 33, was charged with one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense.
  • Shantana Raquel Clark, 24, was charged with one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
  • Donta Omar Haith, 23, was charged with one count each of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense, attempting to obtain property by false pretense and identity theft.
  • Gregory Oneil Haith, 24, was charged with one count each of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
  • Lisa H. Haith, 46, was charged with one count each of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
  • Laporshal Conshay Neal, 24, was charged with one count each of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.
  • Helen Clark Monroe, 41, was charged with one count of each of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and attempting to obtain property by false pretense.

Authorities are still searching for Whitney Bonique Lawson, 22, of Burlington.  Lawson will be charged with one count of conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and attempted to obtain property by false pretense.

This case was investigated by the Department of Insurance and the Gibsonville Police Department.
